Longview, TX —
Attorney General Greg Abbott made a stop in Longview, Tuesday morning.
This marks the third day of his gubernatorial announcement tour.
"I've been united with hispanic community for 31 years through marriage," said Abbott. "My wife's grandparents came to Texas from Mexico and worked their way up from janitorial work. And I understand the hispanic culture deeply through 31 years of successful marriage. And I know that the very same foundation that my marriage is based upon is the same foundation that will connect the hispanic community and the republican party."
Abbott chose to spend the day visiting his former hometowns: Longview, Duncanville and Wichita Falls.
Abbott's Longview visit took place at 9:00 a.m., at Horaney's Inc. on west Methvin Street.
"I understand what real challenges are, and that helps me relate so deeply to people across the state of Texas who face their own challenges," stated Abbott. "Now some of those challenges are physical. Some are family, some are financial. There's all kinds of challenges people face, but in me, they are going to have someone who both understands and champions the challenges and help them overcome the adversity they face in their lives."
East Texans are welcome to attend the event, and participate in a meet and greet with the gubenatorial candidate.
"There are several big challenges," Abbot declared. "One of the biggest challenges we have is to make sure the Texas economy needs to continue to grow and remains the number one economy in the nation. To do that we must get the government out of the business of picking winners and losers, we must reduce taxes on small business owners to keep our economy growing."
