Longview, TX — Fried sugary snacks, professional arm wrestling competitions and thrilling new rides are all new attractions featured at this year’s 63rd Annual Longview Jaycees Gregg County Fair and Expo. Gates open Friday.
“Everyone needs to come out. There is plenty of good clean family fun, and many of the events once inside the gates, are free,” said Billy Clay, fair manager.
Among the free events are the Show-Me Safari petting zoo and the Show-Me Swine Racers. The petting zoo is open during fair hours, while the pig races are scheduled around 7 p.m. and 8 p.m. and 9 p.m. nightly, though additional races will be on Saturdays.
Sponsored for the 63rd consecutive year by the Longview Jaycees, this year’s fair offers a new fried food booth featuring not only fried Twinkees, but also fried Oreos, fried Snickers bars, and just about any sugary-delicacy one can think of to fry.
“They say they’re great,” Clay said.
