TYLER — The Habitat for Humanity organization is set help thousands of people across Smith County.
The program called "Re-habitat" reaches out to low-income senior homeowners.
According to city officials, nearly half of seniors in Smith County live below the poverty line and could qualify for the program.
Qualifying renovations are based on emergency and critical needs.
Repairs include roof leaks, electrical and plumbing issues.
To oversee and support the construction and trade services, Habitat has partnered with the Tyler Chamber of Commerce Hispanic Business Alliance to offer jobs for hispanic and non-hispanic small business owners, contractors and subcontractors.
