Hands off my 401(k)

Tuesday, February 26, 2013 - 6:58pm

Don't look now, but the federal government is just a few steps away from grabbing you 401(k) account and IRAs.

The reason:  the federal government is $17 trillion in the hole and they want to spend more money for social programs.

You are worth $19 trillion thanks to your being responsible and trying to save for the future. They want to take your money and redistribute it to others who have not saved a dime.

Thank you very much.

They went after health care. Now they want the entire economy. The government nerds who want to do this think anyone who has a 401(k) has dodged too many taxes.

You know how it works. You're not taxed on the money you put away. They'll use that money to buy government bonds. You know, the ones only the fed will buy.

This is all in the name of fairness. In other words, pandering to voters who resent those who've saved a little money.

Fairness, in other words, stick it to those who have been responsible. Stick it to the rich.

I have a few 401(k)s. I am not rich. Let me assure you.

This is a direct assault on our money and our freedom.

When has the federal government ever been a good steward of your money?

I'm sick of this.

That's my point of view, what's yours?
