Harris Co. officials announce plans to turn Astrodome into world's largest indoor park, rec center

Houston, Texas (KETK) — Harris County Judge Ed Emmett announced on Tuesday the latest plans for the legendary Astrodome in Houston.
Judge Emmett met before city and county officials as well as the media to announced the county's plans to convert the Astrodome into the world's largest indoor park and recreation center.
Judge Emmett unveiled his proposal from the floor of the Astrodome.
While details of the concept are still being refined, Judge Emmett suggested leaving it open to the public expect when in use by tenants like the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo, Offshore Technology Conference or others. He also implied including a large, open green space that would be perfect for festivals and other community gatherings. He also proposed having a pavilion for music and other events as well as sporting facilities from archery ranges to bike trails.
