9-Year-Old Tyler Student Dies From Swine Flu Virus

TYLER - School officials tell us, a 9-year-old student from Jack Elementary in Tyler has died with a case of swine flu.

School officials say, the student also had underlying medical conditions and significant respiratory issues.

A letter was sent home with parents Tuesday afternoon explaining the situation and inviting parents to a meeting with school officials.

That meeting will take place October first, at 6:30 PM at Jack Elementary's Cafetorium.

According to Principal Shauna Hittle, the school will remain open and operate as normal.
