Healthcare Czar To Patrol Medical Industry

February 11, 2009 - 5:31pm
TYLER - Now that the stimulus plan has passed the senate, there's now focus on an addition to the package, the new post of Healthcare Czar.
President Obama says this person will keep a close eye on the healthcare industry.
He will be monitoring treatments to make sure doctors are doing what the federal government defines as appropriate and cost effective.
The system that the Czar will head, will consist of a health care network that will be able to electronically transmit patient records in an effort to reduce medical errors.
The plan will also enforce national guidelines for doctors, nurses, and other medical personnel.
Hospitals and doctors that don't follow the new system will face penalties.
The new Healthcare Czar is Robert Kolodner, who's the former Chief Health Informatics Officer at The Department Of Veterans Affairs.
his position takes effect right away.

Dido to the above comment. Socialized medicine doesn't work-Patients are multicomplex & people-Guidelines (????-Please). As WE MEDCAL PROFESSIONALS know, when corners are cut i.e discharging patients too soon from hospitals, there is higher probablility of prolems following discharge & readmission i.e in the end more money is spent (I could on with other examples, but point taken). Let US health care professionals determine what is best for the patient vs. the government who generally has NO clue about health care other than the bottom line.

1 year agoSeig Heil, Obama!
I notice that absolutely nothing is going to happen to the greedy Health Insurance companies ( who donated millions to Obama's campaign). Healthcare in this country did just fine until the government got involved with it- and screwed it up.
