Henderson City Manager: Sadler's should pay fine

HENDERSON — Tuesday night, the Henderson City Council listened to concerned residents over the series of issues regarding Sadler's Smokehouse. Sadler's is currently under investigation with the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality and has recieved two non-compliance reports with the city of Henderson over foul odor and wastewater issues. Tuesday, the council and residents heard an apology from James Reed, the Sadler's Smokehouse President and CEO. Henderson City Manager, Mike Barrow recommened Sadler's Smokehouse pay a $14,000.00 fine in a municiple court, for damages, and that the city plans to help Sadler's Smokehouse solve its wastewater issues permanently. Barrow told attendees of the meeting that the ponds, which held grease and animal byproducts, which caused the foul smell, "were history".
