Henderson City Council agreed this week to spend $988,000 to provide a new police station and restroom facilities at Lake Forest Park.

Mayor Pat Brack said the contract was awarded to Barry & Clay.

“We’re hoping that construction can begin almost immediately and that these facilities will be ready for use by the end of the summer,” Brack said.

The police station is moving into the old armory building at the park. The structure will provide more room than the current facility, she said.

“We believe enhancing the amenities and Lake Forest Park and moving the police department there will improve the quality of life for our residents,” Brack said.

In other business, the council approved a resolution authorizing the city manager to enter into an agreement in support of The Villas at Henderson project, which will provide housing for reduced-income families.
