Thursday, April 10, 2014 - 5:48pm

The 54th annual "Henderson County Livestock Show" kicked off this week, showcasing a wide range of animals and events that benefit the community. These animals include cows, horses, goats, rabbits, game birds, and even pigs.

KETK spoke with the President of the Livestock Show, Danny Davis, who explained, "We have a queen and princess contest that started the event, and a horse show. Since then we've had a breeding hog show and market hog show tonight, and we have a steer and heifer show tomorrow. Then we're showing goats and lambs and rabbits today". More than 6,000 people travel through these fair grounds throughout the event.

During these six days, the events raises around $500,000 for Henderson County children. Davis said, "Our community really supports us. The entire county comes out and we have some very generous businesses". So the goal is simple, to benefit the 4H and FFA kids, while teaching them something about agriculture. At the livestock show, there is a little something for everyone.
