Henderson County man allegedly caught stealing cattle

QUANAH - A Henderson County man is in a West Texas jail after he was charged with stealing 420 head of cattle. Carl Wade Curry is charged with multiple theft counts in the thefts in Hardeman County, near the Oklahoma border.

A statement from the Texas and Southwestern Cattle Raisers Association says the 43-year-old Athens man created a fraudulent identity for the alleged thefts. The stolen cattle were recovered from two feedlots in Kansas

According to the statement, association Special Ranger Marvin Wills arrested Curry in Falls County in central Texas Monday and he was brought to Hardeman County on Tuesday night to face charges.

Bond is set at $1.7 million. If convicted, he could face up to life in prison. Curry is also charged in separate cases in six other counties in north, east and central Texas, as well as in Louisiana
