One week ago, six-year old Lane Meador from Henderson was injured after a car accident on Highway 43.

Now the community has rallied around the family.

Donations sites have been set up in businesses as well as the family's home church.

Lorenzo Tavarez, co-president of the Rusk County Rec Center, where Lane plays baseball, has organized a car wash this coming Saturday, with all the precedes going to the family.

The car wash and and bake sale will be held in the parking lot in front of Bobby's Food Center on 79 in Henderson.

Fundraisers are also being held at United Methodist Church as well as Bahama Mamaz Tanning Tanning Hut.

If people really wanted to do everything they could for this child, and the millions more like him in this country, they would vote for representatives in Congress who would pass a single payer health insurance program so that no family would face financial ruin due to the misfortune of disease or accident.
