Hensarling on healthcare reform
June 30, 2009 - 6:07pm
JACKSONVILLE-One East Texas congressman is talking to doctors about why he's against President Obama's healthcare reform.
The details of Obama's trillion dollar healthcare reform are still being debated in Washington. But some of the details aren't sitting well with many congressman including Jeb Hensarling.
Congressman Hensarling spoke to KETK Tuesday at Jacksonville's ETMC. He told us he wants to make sure everyone in East Texas gets the healthcare they need, when they need it and at a price they can afford.
His solution? A liability reform which would save 10-15 percent on the national healthcare bill. Also wellness programs and financial protection to make sure no one in America is wiped out financially because of a catastrophic disease.
"What they're going to do is ultimately create a one size fits all bureaucracy in Washington D.C," Hensarling said.
We do know that to pay for the healthcare overhaul, the president says he'd prefer to reduce tax deductions for the wealthy. But he didn't rule out a tax on employer-provided healthcare benefits.
