WASHINGTON - Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton has kicked off her new position as chief diplomat by introducing herself to state department diplomats and employees.
Clinton's appointment was confirmed overwhelmingly by the Senate Wednesday.
Texas Republican John Cornyn blocked confirmation proceedings Tuesday. He said he was still concerned about former President Bill Clinton's foreign fundraising.
Nevertheless, Mrs. Clinton becomes the third woman to hold the post. She replaces Condoleezza Rice.
