Holiday drunken driving arrests down, police say
Gregg and Rusk County officials said arrests for driving while intoxicated dropped during this year’s Labor Day weekend compared with 2013.
Law enforcement officials made 12 DWI arrests in Gregg County this past holiday weekend, which was Friday through early Tuesday. There were four such arrests in Harrison County and two in Rusk County.
Officials could not provide detailed statistics Wednesday on arrests during this past year’s Labor Day weekend.
Rusk County Sgt. David Roberts said drug-related arrests during the four-day weekend increased compared with 2013, but that’s a trend in his county this year.
