HOUSTON (AP) - A judge has given probation to a 16-year-old Houston boy convicted of burglary after accusing police of beating him during his arrest.

A Harris County jury returned its guilty verdict Tuesday against the boy, who was 15 when he was one of four suspects accused of burglarizing a house in March.

State District Judge Pat Shelton ordered that he serve probation until his 18th birthday.

In a lawsuit filed in federal court in Houston, Chad Holley alleged that his civil rights were violated when Houston police officers stomped and beat him.

The lawsuit asserts that Holley sustained memory loss, a concussion and bleeding of the eyes.

Four officers were indicted on official oppression charges and fired after a surveillance video allegedly showed them beating Holley.
