Houston crime drops
Houston, Texas — Murders in Houston dropped 37 percent during the first six months of the year compared to the same period a year ago, according to recent statistics collected by the FBI.
Houston's total crime rate, including violent and nonviolent crimes, decreased by 11 percent.
Police Chief Charles McClelland said the trend reflects the department's successful efforts to reduce crime over the past year and a half.
