Firefighters say: tanker contained a corrosive alkaline

The Houston Chronicle is reporting; several homes in north Houston have been evacuated after a tanker carrying chemicals crashed into a ditch and began leaking Monday afternoon.

The accident happened at the corner of Des Chaumes and Roland St. near U.S. 59 at around 2:45 p.m. Houston Fire Department District Chief Johnny Smith said the truck was carrying a corrosive alkaline, and the leak was less than 25 gallons.
