East Texas — East Texas state lawmaker Bryan Hughes told fellow Republicans in Longview on Thursday that the conservative stars are aligning in his bid to become speaker of the Texas House of Representatives.
Hughes, of Mineola, is the only candidate thus far to announce a challenge to House Speaker Joe Straus.
