Hundreds gather at memorial for Longview chiropractor
Longview — The attendance at a memorial service Saturday was proof of John Petty’s impact on the Longview community.
Some attendees cried at the service at First Baptist Church, but most of the crowd laughed while hearing memories of a quiet man who lived loudly.
A reception at the Longview Museum of Fine Arts followed the memorial, and the line to get in stretched a block long.
Petty, a Longview chiropractor, went missing this past week while on a shark dive in the Bahamas. A Coast Guard search ended after more than two days.
His footprint of service reaches from East Texas and as far as Guatemala and Africa.
