Hundreds pack Lufkin auditorium to remember Coach Outlaw

For 17 years, Lufkin’s John Outlaw led the Panthers onto the field, backed by a diehard group of fans known as Panther Nation.

On Tuesday morning, that same Panther Nation converged on the Lufkin Middle School auditorium to remember the man who led the Panthers to prominence both at the statewide and national levels.

“Today Panther Nation is a Panther family,” Lufkin ISD Superintendent Roy Knight said. “No time that we spend to honor him will ever be appropriate.”
