TYLER, TX (KETK) — The ice storm hit North Central Texas on Thursday, causing power outages, thousands of canceled flights, and dangerous road conditions.
Dallas Fort Worth was hit the hardest, and now they're dealing with the aftermath. The most recent problem is gas stations are out of fuel.
KETK spoke with the dispatch manager at DFW Oil, Ehab Mikail, who said, "Everybody was out of fuel as of today (Monday). We just started getting back on track".
Along I-20 West of Dallas Fort Worth, more than 55 gas stations are experiencing this problem. Mikhail said, "We started with about 2 gas stations out, and now we have about over 55 gas stations out or more".
The freezing rain caused icy road conditions, which hindered fuel tanks from driving to the gas stations on time. Many stations have been out of fuel since last Thursday, and the problem may not be fixed until the end of the week. Mikhail said, "Hopefully by Thursday, but you know it's slow in both directions and right now we're trying to catch up with everybody".
Many Tyler residents commute to Dallas regularly, so it's important to gas up the car before leaving.
