After raising a glass in celebration of the new year you could wake up not feeling too great. KETK spoke with some locals to find out the best hangover cures.  "The number one remedy is to not drink," said Tatia Gilger, owner and operator of Complete Nutrition.

However, if you decide to have a few glasses of champagne, Gilger says to "get plenty of sleep, second of all drink plenty of water, find some electrolytes if you can, maybe like Gatorade or something like that, but always aspirin is a good choice."

It's also best to start your day and new year with a good meal.  According to experts the simple carbohydrates can help level out your blood sugar.  "Get some food in your stomach especially something like the more bland foods," said Gilger.

After popping endless bottles of champagne, its smart to pop a few pills the next morning of vitamins, that is.  "Vitamin b, vitamin c, primrose oil, they help flush out toxins that your body can hold on to," said Gilger.  The FDA recommends caffeine and aspirin to cure hangovers.

To sum it all up...

-drink lots of water

-get plenty of rest

-take vitamins like vitamin b and c to get rid of toxins in your body

-drink lighter fluids, not dark drinks

-caffeine can help boost energy the next morning

-eat bland foods to help settle your stomach
