Illegal Immigrants could save Farmers

TYLER-Last Thursday a U.S. Senator from California introduced an agricultural guest-worker bill in Washington. Some are calling the bill ambitious.
The proposed bill, if passed, would grant citizenship to almost two million illegal farm workers and their families.
Politicians who are for the bill say it's needed to keep farms in business because right now they can't find people willing to do the hard labor that comes with working in the fields.
The illegal immigrant farm workers could attain temporary legal status after they meet certain criteria, including a commitment to keep working in agriculture for several years.
After doing this, then they could apply to becomes a U.S. citizen.

The lie behind this proposed bill is that there are no citizens willing to do this work.
What's not said is that the wages paid for this work are not enough to make it worthwhile for people who have to pay into social security and medicare, buy auto and health insurance, and pay a mortgage.
It is profitable for someone, an illegal, who is often paid under the table, who pays no taxes, buys no insurance (auto or health), and lives in colonies (think drop houses), while sending their earnings out of the country.
I have worked in agriculture and construction and done all the dirty, dangerous work that's claimed Americans won't do and there were plenty of others willing to do the work as well. Given the level of our current unemployment rate, that should still be the case; as long as a decent wage is paid.
We have a subgroup among our growers and builders who have developed a junkie's addiction for cheap(illegal) labor and they will keep clamoring for their fix until they are forced to go cold turkey!
To work on whose farm? His? So he can pay them starvation wages, like the rich fat cats on Wall Street would like to see us all earning..
What part of they are here illegaly do these stupid politicans not understand. I say we need real people in Congress not these crooks that are bought and paid for by these large Agri Corps.
When are people going to get it into their heads? This is just another form of SLAVERY.
Look it up, it's called "indentured servitude".
They already have something similar to this, it's called a "Green Card" and it is a failed program.
People just don't get it! When workers are illegal they will do the back breaking work. The minute they are remotely legal they go and get other jobs that citizens DO want.
These people are breaking the LAW, and so are their EMPLOYERS. They are criminals.
WE THE PEOPLE OF THE UNITED STATES DO NOT want ILLEGAL immigrants from ANY country for ANY reason.
The current laws are in place for a reason.
They should be enforced, not relaxed.
