After seven terms in the Texas House, state Rep. Leo Berman, R-Tyler, one of the chamber's staunchest conservatives, told people in his district last year that he was ready to reel it in.

The 76-year-old retired U.S. Army lieutenant colonel said he changed his mind when he met the man who wanted to follow in his footsteps. Republican Matt Schaefer, a lawyer and a lieutenant commander in the U.S. Navy Reserve, took his resume to Berman and asked for his support.

He voted to allow himself along with all of the Texas Legislators to retire on a State District Judges Retirement off $120 K + a year after only serving the state for 3 terms in office & to allow the Governor to retire & start drawing a retirement check without leaving his position & to continue to receive his pay check and retirement check. In the last LegislativeSession(82R) he supported legislation to end the pensions of Texas Teachers and State employees but excluded elected members pensions

LEO IS A HYPOCRITE MAY GOD HAVE MERCY ON HIS SOUL I WILL BE ASKING GOD TO BE WITH LEO AND HIS FAMILY IN HIS FIGHT AGAINST CANCER BUT I WILL ALSO BE ASKING GOD TO LEAD HIS POLITICAL CAMPAIGN INTO A FAILED ENDING. HOPE HE LOSES HIS TAX PAYER PAID HEALTH INSURANCE TOO LIKE HE HAS SUPPORTED POLICIES THAT WOULD END HEALTH INSURANCE FOR TEACHERS AND OUR STATE EMPLOYEES.

Berman himself is the granddaddy of arrogance! Does this man think his first election victory all those many years ago entitles him to stay in office forever? This is the guy who several years ago wrote me a disgusting email calling me all sorts of names just because I questioned his ultra-conservative leanings...in spite of his good ol' boy reputation he is no gentleman, and certainly can't take criticism.
