Investigators found more than 44,000 plants spread across more than 12 fields
Polk Co., TX — The Houston Chronicle is reporting; the fields and forest off Old Highway 35 in Goodrich used to be ripe for picking fruit.
"We used to walk back there looking for blackberries," said Cassius Bordelon, a 71-year-old retired professor who lives with his wife and dozen dogs on several acres nearby.
But like others in the small community of 217 south of Livingston, Bordelon said he wasn't exactly surprised when a marijuana farm sprouted on the property.
