In the wake of the Colorado shooting, more East Texans are learning about self-defense with firearms

Tyler, TX (KETK) — The Colorado shooting has rattled the whole country, and more people here in East Texas are becoming more mindful of their own safety.
Local self-defense instructors tell KETK that over the last two days, the number of people wanting to sign up for classes has jumped significantly since the 'The Dark Knight Rises' shooting.
And they say that taking these classes, will not only make you a better shooter, it will also make you safer.
One East Texas instructor tells KETK that on the morning of the attack, he had six new people call wanting to take classes before eleven a.m., all of which said they were inspired by the theater shooting.
They also say that is best course of action, and not just for new gun owners.
Instructors say that being safe with your firearm is the most important aspect of training, before using your gun to keep you safe, and they also say always be vigilant and proficient with you gun, and don't neglect regular training.
