Longview—This tough economy is taking its toll on our four-legged friends.
The Human
Society of Northeast Texas in Longview has seen an increase in the number of abandoned and surrendered animals because their owners no longer have the means to take care of them.
In one recent case a family had to choose between diapers or feeding their cat.
It is a misdemeanor to abandon an animal.
If you can no longer take car of your animal, you can surrender your pet to the shelter.
