Rusk and Cherokee counties have recently seen a number of burglaries.  "We need the general public out there watching out for each other,"  said Jeff Price, Rusk County Sheriff.  Price also says theres been an increase of burglaries in the past month.  "It does not take a thief a second to break out your window, reach in grab what they're gonna get, and keep on going, and nobody will even notice it," said Price.

Both Rusk county sheriffs and Tyler police say keep an eye out for each other, and yourself.  "You need to be more aware of your surroundings...where you park, what's out in your car that can be seen," said Price.

Remember the saying, "out of sight, out of mind,' whenever shopping for your christmas gifts.  If you're going to be traveling, have a neighbor watch your home for you.  Officials also say to take photos of the serial numbers of all of your electronics, and of your jewelry.

However, if you're ever in this sort of situation, make it known.  "If you do get into a bind where you're in trouble then bring attention to yourself," said Don Martin of the Tyler Police Department.
