An east Texas community is coming together, to lift up one of its own.

In early September, Bryan Buchanan, a National Guardsman from Jacksonville, was injured in an ATV accident.

Buchanan is slowly recovering, but he still has a long and hard road ahead of him.

Which is why Lone Star Military Resource Group, along with other businesses have helped  raise money for a man they say has not only served his country abroad, but has done so much locally in Jacksonville.

When Bryan is not overseas, he works as a plumber, and has been known to do whatever he can to lower his costs for those who need his help, but just can't afford the money.

His sister Heather Sunday says he once took a a payment in pecans from an elderly woman in Jacksonville, who didn't have much money.

And according to Heather, who is also a veteran, it has been difficult for him to to accept this money,  but by letting others help him, it shows other vets in need, that it is okay to accept offers from people would want to show their gratitude.

On October 12th, Beverly's Country Café will giving part of their proceeds to the Buchanan family, and you can make a direct donation at any Austin Bank in town.
