Former Longview police officer Leigh Ann Snyder went before a Longview appeals committee about 8:30 a.m. today to argue against her December termination.

Snyder was terminated on Dec. 11 per city policy after she failed to return to work full time within one year of suffering an on-the-job injury.

Snyder was injured Dec. 11, 2011 when her squad car was hit by an intoxicated driver. She returned to light duty, but had to undergo a subsequent surgery in November that kept her from being able to return to full-time duty.

The committee will have five working days to “make a decision about what recommendation to give,” said city Spokesman Shawn Hara.

The committee will then present a recommendation to the city manager. The city manager or his designee will have 10 working days to decide to uphold or overturn the appeal against termination, unless they ask for an extension to gather more information, Hara said.
