The Tri-Tyler Half Iron Man Tri-athletes took their mark near Lake Tyler early Sunday morning. More than 100 athletes from all across the nation met there to compete and earn their bragging rights in the half Iron man competition.

The competition started around 7:00 a.m... with a 1.5 mile swim across the Lake Tyler Dam, then the athletes hopped on their bikes to endured a 56 mile bike ride though hills and rocky terrain toward Jacksonville and back.

The last leg of the race was a 13.1 mile sprint to the finish line, where the athlete's say, it makes it all worth it.

Brady O'Bryan tells KETK, it's the best feeling in the world, he says, "Finishing a race is a feeling that you only know once you've experienced it, and once you've experienced it, there's nothing else like it."

They nick-named the race the "Hardest Half" and the athletes say it most certainly lived up to that name.

This is was first Tri-Tyler event, and next year they hope to have more people come out and give the Triathlon a try.
