JACKSONVILLE - Our situation is looking better than it has in quite some time.

David Pittman works for Jacksonville College and despite the rough time their neighbors at Lon Morris college are going through, Pittman say it's a different story on this campus.

"Jacksonville College has always in recent years has wanted to cross over that 500 enrollment mark per semester and probably this fall will be, it looks like this fall will be the semester that happens."

Thanks to the boost in attendance, the school has laid out several projects they're working on, and a big part of that is new properties that they've either purchased or were donated to the college.

"We hope to build a new cafeteria and a student center at some point," said Pittman.

In addition there are renovations to current dorms already underway, and a volleyball court, but there's also a change inside as well.

Michael Creech, with the college tells KETK, "We have this new lab that we've just renovated with 24-student PC's . We have smart board at the front that the instructor's able to use to control the PC from there it's just the students have been really thrilled with this."

It's not just students that will be experiencing the benefits coming to Jacksonville College. Two houses were donated to the school which will be used to house some faculty members.

All total, the new renovations we're told comes at a cost just over $125,000.
