Debra Birch was a student pilot, she was working toward her pilot license when the crash occurred on Sunday afternoon.

She was also the only female who piloted a plane at the Cherokee County Airport.

This was only Birch's third time flying alone, her first time was not too long ago, on November 7, 2012.

Birch signed a shirt to remember her first solo flight.

Members of the Jacksonville community tell KETK Birch was very involved in the local Rotary club, The Hope Center in Jacksonville, and may other organizations.

Clint Goff, Manager of the Cherokee County Airport tells KETK, Birch and her husband Richard love to fly, "they flew almost everyday together."

Friends and fellow flymen and women, will never forget Debra Birch. He spirit lives on in the community.

She and her husband Richard attended First Presbyterian Church in Jacksonville, memorial arrangements are being set up. We will post the memorial information as soon as we get that information.
