The mayoral race in Jacksonville has been making news across East Texas, and it has led to a run-off vote between current mayor Kenneth Melvin, and local restaurant owner Rob Gowin.

Turnout for the original election was already high with close to 1,000 votes, 525 coming during the early election.

But early voting for the run-off surpassed those numbers, with 640 people voting before the deadline date.

Mayor Melvin's platform has been on experience, while Gowin claims to want to take the city in a more progressive direction.

The people of Jacksonville will decide who will win this high profile race.

Voting will take place on June 11th at seven in the morning at the Jacksonville Public Library, and will end at seven that evening.
