Jacksonville, TX (KETK) — Lemarcus Rusk was born and raised in Jacksonville, Texas. From the time he graduated high school, Rusk noticed the area was in need of a spectacular comedy show.
Rusk shared, "I was going to a lot of shows in Houston, and I just thought you know I'm always the guy who's sitting in the audience and I thought, I want to do this myself". So rather than beginning in a city already full of comedians, Rusk began the "Summer Comedy Blast" in his hometown. He said, 'There's nothing like your hometown when you have your hometown to support you. And that is an amazing feeling right there".
Rusk hosts the show, and the act features 3 comedians. Jon Stringer headlines, and opening are performers Lil Daniel and Sheen Simmons. Rusk explained. "It's pretty much just like a real comedy show that you would go to, but it's just set up like game show as well in the middle. So that way it lets the audience be a part of the show so they're just not sitting there the whole time". Involving the audience as much as possible with activities like hula-hooping and musical chairs. Hoping to make East Texans feel like kids again.
