Jacksonville police make drug bust

Following a year long intensive investigation into the sale of prescription drugs from a residence at 909 Kelly Street in Jacksonville, Texas, the Jacksonville Police Department executed a SWAT raid at the location pursuant to a search warrant obtained on the afternoon of Friday, November 6, 2009.

Special Response Officers entered the home at approximately 4:55M Friday afternoon, arresting two people and recovering a large amount of prescription pain killers and other drugs. Cash from the drug sales was also seized.

Lori Brooks, age 43 was arrested and charged with Delivery and Possession of a Controlled Substance penalty group 1, a First degree Felony.

Also arrested was Melinda Kirsh, age 45 and charged with Possession and Delivery of a Controlled Substance, penalty group 1, a First Degree Felony.

The Jacksonville Police Department had spent hundreds of hours investigating this location over the past year. On more than one occasion Sergeant Jason Price dressed out in a full Ghillie suit and conducted surveillance from a wooded area adjacent to the house. Sgt. Price documented suspicious activities and photographed people approaching the house.

During the raid, prospective customers continued to approach the area despite police vehicles being parked in front of the residence and uniformed SWAT officers moving about. Police Chief Reece Daniel stopped one of the vehicles and arrested Chris Berry, age 21 for Possession of Cocaine and Marijuana. Later during the Raid, Sgt. Daniel Franklin and SWAT team members arrested three more individuals that approached the house.

James Tatum Hallford, age 17 was arrested and charged with Possession of Marijuana.

Chedrick Boyd, age 21 was arrested and charged with Possession of Marijuana.

Gerald Jerome Singleton Jr., age 22 was arrested and charged with Possession of Marijuana.
