The Jacksonville Police sent a notice through the Chamber of Commerce ordering local businesses to shut down sweepstakes machines and remove them from their buildings.

"The problem with the sweepstakes machines is, as for reaching, it goes way up above the local vendors, the local merchants and the local people, who are actually trying to raise money for legitimate fundraising, legitimate benefits." said Sergeant Jason Price. "What we're doing, we're teaming up. We're coordinating with other task forces throughout the state who are working on it. We're a small part of an ongoing investigation."

Authorities explain the gaming machines are not the property of the store owners. Therefore, the owners of the machines will not be able to pick them up until next week.

Last week, one man was arrested by Jacksonville officers for operating a gaming place.
