TYLER — The Jaycees Fireworks Show is in its 49th year!
And the show out at Lindsey Park has always been more of an event than just your typical fireworks show.
The gates opened at about 4 this afternoon and people started pouring in reserving a good spot.
The Jaycees, who are a volunteer organization that teaches leadership training through community service, says it's one of the many events they do every year...complete with food, entertainment, fireworks...and this year the Marine Core league was out there doing a little recruiting.
We asked Marine A.W. Cox from Flint what Independence Day means to him.
"All of the servicemen that have served before us and are serving now. Keep our country free and strong and that's what our whole nation is about...to keep freedoms. Sometimes we complain a lot about different problems but you still don't have a country that's any better than the United States," Cox said.
The Jaycees tell us about 7,000 people show up to the Lindsey Park show every year.
