Joel McHale will keep cooking "The Soup" --- at least for two more years.

The news that McHale will continue hosting E!'s rapid-fire reality-show clip-blender "The Soup," as he has since 2004, comes just as the comic-actor-host signs deals with Sony Pictures Television and E!, in addition to launching his own production company, Free Period Productions, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Through Free Period, McHale will work on both scripted and non-scripted projects for Sony and E!, respectively. In the meantime, he'll continue starring in "Community," which premieres its fourth season on October 19.

Sony Pictures Television produces McHale's NBC sitcom about life at a community college. The company stuck with the series after creator Dan Harmon was ousted in the spring.
