LUFKIN, Texas (AP) —
Jury selection is expected to begin Monday for the upcoming trial of a former Lufkin dialysis nurse accused of killing five patients by injecting them with bleach.
Kimberly Saenz faces the death penalty if convicted of capital murder. Picking a jury is expected to take several weeks.
Authorities arrested the 38-year-old Saenz in April 2009. They say two witnesses saw her pour bleach into syringes and traces of it were found in dialysis machine tubing. Authorities say five other patients were also injected with bleach but survived.
Saenz's attorney says she's being blamed for the clinic's mistakes.
