Hundreds of Whitehouse residents gathered at Whitehouse City Hall for the "Keep Whitehouse Dry Committee" press conference Sunday.

This press conference is just one of the many ways the committee has been reaching out to Whitehouse residents before the May 11th voting on a ballot that would allow the sale of packaged beer and wine in the city. The referendum on this ballot would officially make the city of Whitehouse wet, and many of the city's residents are not wanting this to happen.

At the press conference pastors from across Whitehouse warned citizens about the possible harm this change could bring to the city's youth. Pastor Richard Sydnor of Gateway Baptist Church tells KETK, "Alcohol that is easily accessible to our young children, and to our teenagers makes it more of a temptation for them to go buy it and also to consume it." Pastor Sydnor also explained to the crowd that the city of Whitehouse already has a high number of teenagers who have died in alcohol-related accidents, and he fears this would only cause more.
