It's back-to-school time and we know in the summer, most kids have a pretty relaxed schedule, but parents need to get their kids ready for school.

I'm sure we all remember those days waking up early after summer break. Parents tell KETK, it's hard to get kids adjusted back to a school schedule.

Experts say, get them ready now.

"They need to start a couple of weeks before school starts which would be about right now," says Kris Stewart, Stepping Stone Preschool and Elementary School in Tyler.

Parents know getting kids on a routine for Back-to-School can be challenging.

Stewart says, stepping stone preschool and elementary in Tyler tells KETK, parents need to start with bedtime. Kids should be getting at least 8-10 hours of sleep.

It's also important to start getting in the habit of eating a healthful breakfast and lunch.

Stewart says, to avoid last minute stress, make appointments now for physicals and vaccinations. She advises you talk to your kids about what to expect such as homework and meeting new friends.

A routine will prevent kids from getting anxiety when school starts.
