The results from the Kilgore "quality of life" survey are in. Overall, 93% of respondents are satisfied with life in the city. City Manager Scott Sellers says he's thrilled with the results.

"The citizens are pleased with life in Kilgore and we will continue to make that number closer to 100 percent."

In terms of quality of city services, survey results reveal residents are most satisfied with The Kilgore Fire Department. Chief Johnny Bellows says he's very impressed with his crew.

"I'm very proud of our firefighters..and what they've done. I think it's a testimony that the community understands our firefighters are out working..they're training more than any other fire department..and they're performing jobs that are not normally part of our job description."

While the survey results show residents are happy with life in kilgore, residents chose roads and sewer and water infrastructure as the top two areas where improvements are needed. Sellers says the city is already planning ways to improve.

"With these survey results, I then go to city council and say how do you want to prioritize these projects..and how do you want to fund them?"
