Kilgore College students, former students and employees are encouraged to participate in Habitat for Humanity of Longview’s “Women Build 2012” Oct. 13 as a part of the organization’s efforts to encourage women to participate in Habitat projects.

“This is a great way for women students and staff from Kilgore College to give back to the community,” said Patty Bell, Service Learning Director at KC. “We are always looking for ways to give our students opportunities to create valuable learning experiences outside of the classroom.”

The KC Service Learning Program is a teaching and learning strategy where students perform public service to benefit the community in order to achieve a course’s learning objectives and fulfill personal goals.

“The Habitat event fits perfect with what we are trying to achieve with promoting public service among our students,” Bell said.
