Kilgore Fire Department making changes after investigation

Kilgore, TX — Kilgore Fire officials are making changing after two firefighters fell to their deaths earlier this year.

The department is adding safety harnesses and removing hooks from the fire crews equipment

Investigators recommended these changes which are required by certain occupational organizations.

As for the crews lack of experience they say the training is the only way to get them prepared.

Officials say they're warning other departments about preventing similar incidents.

my questions is why are those in management not being held responsible for two great men not going home to their families. Who was responsible for putting this dangerous piece of equipment in service when it was not properly equipped with safety harness per the operators manual?
Why isn't the city council doing their own investigation as to where the problem lies? If they can't take care of this, maybe they should step down & let someone who cares do the investigation!
