On Saturday cars wrapped around the Kilgore Walmart parking lot for a car wash fundraiser held by the Kilgore Fire Department. The car was benefited fellow firefighter, Jason Baxter, and his three year old daughter, Jillian Baxter. The pair lost their wife and mother to cancer on Tuesday.

President of the Kilgore Professional Firefighters Association, Josh McDowell explains, "In 2003 she was diagnosed with cancer and she just recently passed away. It spread to her brain when Baxter first got hired out here."

The fire station was not alone in their fundraising efforts. Firefighters from Liberty City along with Kilgore police officers made their way to the fundraiser to assist in washing cars for hours. McDowell says that the car wash raised about $6,500 dollars total, but the family still needs more assistance because insurance is not covering funeral or medical expenses.

These firefighters are not done assisting their fellow fire brother. The Kilgore Fire Station will be holding a "gun raffle". Tickets for this raffle are ten dollars  and the winner will receive an AR-15 rifle.

If you are interested in making a monetary donation, checks can be made to the Kilgore Professional Firefighters Association or any Regions bank under the account "Jason Baxter Family Benefit".
