Kilgore group petitions to change liquor laws
Kilgore — Organizers of the Kilgore Restaurant Group are seeking 1,000 signatures to change the system in which mixed alcoholic beverages are sold in the city’s restaurants.
Jackie Clayton, owner of The Back Porch and organizer for the Kilgore Restaurant Group, said Monday that petitions are currently being signed so that a proposition can be placed on the May 10 ballot to allow for the legal sale of mixed beverages in restaurants by food and beverage certificate holders.
Currently, only Kilgore businesses designated as “private clubs” are allowed to serve mixed alcoholic beverages.
