A Kilgore nightclub that closed more than a year ago is expected to reopen in a few weeks with a new name and new owners.

Landon Swearingin said he, Mark Hampton and John Ferguson are owners of what will be The Doghouse Saloon. The club had been operating as Boots & Buckles Saloon, at 202 E. Texas 31 in Kilgore, when it closed in April 2012.

The three men have experience running East Texas clubs.

Swearingen said he manages The Levee and Texas Players Club in Longview for owners Hampton and Ferguson, but he will join them as owners in the new club.

Gregg County records show Mark Hampton, as managing partner of a separate entity called MLH Properties, purchased the building from former owner Daniel Strand. A loan with Community Bank for $59,500 financed the purchase.

“We’re just branching out looking for some more clubs,” Swearingin said.
