Kilgore panel mulls next phase of street improvement project
Kilgore, TX — City council members will be asked to decide how much they want to alter — and spend — on a two-block stretch of Kilgore Street and side roads under plans discussed Thursday by the Main Street Advisory Board.
Phase III of the long-range downtown Streetscape Project widens sidewalks on the city’s namesake road to 20 feet and installs benches, landscaping and lighting along the two-plus blocks between Main and Danville streets.
Cost estimates presented by engineer Jeremy Buechter ranged from $1.8 million to $2.7 million. Another $900,000 extended the upgrades one block down both South and Gregg streets.
